TIDBITS FROM THE SPORTS COMMITTEE
While ASA kicks off another new school year, the Sports Committee armed with renewed energy and vigor is eager to tackle new goals and bring about novel ideas with its sole objective to render ASA’s athletic program a success. Already, after school basketball practices are under way in preparation for the much awaited annual interscholastic Kaham basketball competitions to take place in later winter. Track & Field Kaham competitions are next on the agenda with the races set for November 15th, 2009. Applications to participate have been sent home with the students. Please make sure to turn in the paperwork as soon as possible if your child is interested. The competition is open to all students from 2 nd grade onwards.
On the more entertaining side, as you know by now, the administration was able to get hold of tickets for the basketball game to take place between the LA Lakers and the LA Clippers in early spring at the Staples Center. The students are ecstatic and rightfully so. Many surprises await them that day. We hope this communal experience will leave a lasting impression on our students and motivate them to become better students, better athletes and outstanding citizens.
Till you hear from us again, we want to thank you for supporting our weekly bake sale - the backbone of our fundraising program. Your support and suggestions are always welcome.
